Image
Almost everyone in India must have heard many times when it rains in Mumbai everything stops⛈🌧. The monsoon arrived in Mumbai this year in 2021,with heavy rains and I got to experience what it means when one says " Mumbai stops when it rains heavily. " Watch the video,☝👬compiled the short clips that day Before moving ahead I would like to share something about me. I am Prakash Singh, staying in Mumbai since October 2020. I work in PSU bank and came here after being transferred from Dhanbad, the coal capital of India.Settling down in Mumbai I decided to compile my experiences by creating a blog .  My last blog post was on  Visit to Elephanta Caves(Gharapauri Maharashtra)                                            (Prakash Singh) Here is my latest write-up on Mumbai monsoon( Blog Exploring Mumbai) , heavy rains, and what it means when we say Mumbai stops when it rains heavily. The rainy season in Mumbai starts June to October: This is the famous monsoon season in Mumbai which

Image
(Me ,Rupam & Maa in Elephanta caves) I visited Elephanta caves in January2021,and thought to include it in my blog Exploring Mumbai .I have tried to encompass all i could gather on this UNESCO heritage.Do read and share your feedback in comment section. Renting a flat in Mumbai  and settling down here took me time.As my mother, wife and baby came here, the monotonous life became a bit easy. Then i started visiting places in and around Mumbai .Further thought to make a record of places and experiences ,i should write a blog. Thus making a blog on Exploring Mumbai came to my mind This article is about Elephanta caves.I visited the place along with my family members.Below attached video is comprehensive and can be used as a guide to visit elephanta caves. This is a must watch video as I have covered almost everything about visiting Elephanta Caves.   ( Tap the play button/else anywhere in above thumbnail/image/ here in the link and remember to unmute the video. ) Few things which a

View of locality in Holi(Tilak                                                 Nagar,Chembur) I shifted Mumbai last year and as my better half couldn't get leave because of yearly closing ,we had to stay here in Mumbai during Holi. I never had stayed far away from family during holi .Recollecting past memories of holi celebrations back home,i missed family members &friends.                     With my wife and little baby                                                  Samriddhi Singh I browsed the internet to know about the mumbai city events during holi.Got to know that Rangpanchmi in Mumbai is celebrated with vigour, people play with colours dance on music, big celebrations are held in a lot of places and city also celebrates many holi events and parties in MMRDA grounds, country club,Mahalakshmi Race course and many more places.          Colour splash- 2020 holi(venue                    Country CLUB,Andheri) But the 2nd phase of corona wave played spoil

WINTER IN MUMBAI - Visitor's Paradise.

Image
Samriddhi Singh(my little baby) and Me I visited mumbai earlier few times. But last winter of 2020 ,shifted to Mumbai. I was literally amazed that even in peak months of winter we never ever felt need of wearing warm clothes. It was the most comfortable winter i spent ever.Rather,i can say the weather was literally awesome.I experienced the Maritime climate first hand. The temperature didn't go below 15°C and the weather was perfect to move around the city, exploring Mumbai . My family (maa, wife, little baby and me) visited some places in winters such as Juhu beach,Elephanta caves,Gateway of India &Marine drive. Among these Gateway of India,Juhu Beach and Marine drive has become our favourite weekend spots in Mumbai.                         (We at Juhu Beach -december ) (Me at Juhu beach in Morning - month January ) Below is a video that elaborates how to get to Elephanta caves. We went there in December.               WATCH VIDEO, this video may serve as a complete guide  for vis

Renting a flat in Mumbai.

Image
(Me at my flat at TilakNagar(CHEMBUR)                        Grace CHS,near by BKC.) Renting/Buying a flat in Mumbai is an arduous and expensive task. Finding a flat near by workplace is a challenge as rents in Mumbai is exorbitantly high and transport communication is neither cheap nor hassle free for a common average earning family. Flat rents may vary from 20 thousand to several lakhs.                             Kharghar Apartment If you are lucky to have a job in Navi Mumbai,it can be considered a blessing as Navi Mumbai (Kharghar,Nerul,Seawoods,Vashi ...) offers affordable rental flats and is cleaner and organised than rest of Mumbai. But if your job location is outside Navi Mumbai,it can be a hectic daily job to reach your office and come back home. My job location is in BKC and my wife work location is in Chembur Camp.So we decided to settle down nearby .Flat rents in Chembur/Tilak Nagar vary from 20 thousand to few lakhs too. A one bhk can cost you 20 thousand to 40 thousa

Bandra kurla Complex

Image
BANDRA KURLA COMPLEX Everyone working elsewhere must have come across name BKC.ie.Bandra Kurla Complex.Accidently, that is my job location. Looking at Bandra Kurla Complex today,it is difficult to imagine that just 30 yrs before land was available at a throwaway price of Rs 300 square feet. Bandra kurla complex houses Diamond Bourse, banks such as SBI,Bank of India,Canara bank,ICICI,SEBI,consulates of UK, Australia, Belgium and the Netherlands,Asian Heart Institute,Famous Trident Hotel and many more commercial and residential apartments. I have made a video on BKC. BANDRA KURLA COMPLEX BKC was conceptualized by the state, specifically former chief minister Sharad Pawar, as one of the alternatives to Nariman Point and South Mumbai in general. It has no negatives except ,poor connectivity.Within BKC it is easy to move but getting to BKC is a tough task .And if you reside far away place as i had been at the start,it can become challenging to c

COMING TO MUMBAI reluctantly

Image
MY first experience of MUMBAI.👀 I work in a PSU bank🏦.I had been to Mumbai way back 10 years before. The then crowd at KURLA STATION and the crowded street images are still afresh. I have always loved being in Jharkhand.Reasons are many-my childhood buddies, family, known places and a simple lifestyle. We dont need big paychecks to survive and live comfortably there. I never thought of coming to Mumbai leaving back my family(parents) and friends. BUT working in Bank and no other means to support my self and family ,I had to move as i was transfered from Jharkhand(Godda) to Mumbai.(Maharashtra). Below is a youtube link of a video that i made after coming here reluctantly. https://youtu.be/Q16hua8Wivc My FIRST EXPERIENCE OF MUMBAI I was feeling so homesick that i even thought of resigning.I went back home many a times. But as i hadn't any other option,i had to settle down in Mumbai reluctantly. So the video may appear a bit critical. Mumbai serves as livelihood destination for a very bi
